The Teacup Chihuahua Breed

Filed under: Doggies + other Pets — admin @ 7:21 pm

There is actually no official breed called Teacup Chihuahua or Tea-Cup. The name is some breeders came up with for the chihuahuas that are genetically bred to be smaller. This was probable to make the stand out and create more of a personal identity for these small creatures so they would become more valued. As to chihuahuas there are officially only two kinds, Long Coat and Short Coat.

The name teacup chihuahua has become so popular lately though that many are considering this to be a breed of their own. One help in their fame has of course been the celebrity Paris Hilton and her Tinker Bell dog.

These dogs are really small in size and some even discourage breeders from breeding these kinds of chihuahuas, at least the really small ones because they can easily become genetically disfunctional and create medical problems both for themselves and their owners.

The american kennel club in their standards describe as chihuahua as a compact, alert and graceful swift-moving dog that has terrier-like qualities of temperament. So beware that even though teacup chihuahuas can be small in size, their temper can something else.

Most people that buy these dogs though tend to buy them because they are easy to handle. Anytime you buy a dog it is a dog thing to dig into some study of the breed before making a purchase, that will make easier both for you and the dog in the years to come. People who buy dogs only with their eyes often tend to end up surprised or dissapointed when their pet turned out to have different characteristics than what they had expected.

A couple of words of advice if you decide to get yourself a teacup chihuahua is to invest in a coat for your dog. Many times because of their small size and lack of protecting layers of body fat they are vulnerable to cold. Another good thing is to invest in a harness rather than in a collar. This because your friend again can be somewhat fragile around the neck and is often more comfortable being out walking together with you in a good teacup chihuahua harness.

Many people appreciate their chihuahua because it is so loyal and loving. A good thing is to get them used to being with a mix of people early as they might show signs of jealousy later in life. They have also a tendency to be suspicious of people they are not familiar with. But I guess that is many times a human trait as well.

Pomeranian Pictures: The Easiest Way To Fall In Love With This Breed.

Filed under: Doggies + other Pets — admin @ 12:28 am

By looking at pomeranian pictures you will indeed fall in love
with this wonderful breed of dog. Obviously there is more than
just good looks that makes this dog adorable and a fantastic
family member but good looks is a great start.

If you are looking for a small breed dog that is also a great
watch dog, a loyal and intuitive companion, or one that is
always happy and playful, with good looks to boot then you can’t
go past the pomeranian or pomerian (as sometimes mispelt). How
could you go past the fox like face and the beautiful ball of
fur that you find when looking at pom puppies. Their little
faces that hold so much expression.

Finding the time to look at pomeranian pictures you will soon
see what I mean. You will also see different colors but the most
common color is orange. You will find white, black, parti colors
as well. Whatever color, they are all gorgeous. These dogs are a
toy breed meaning that they are small. Some can be a small as 2
lbs. This is extremely small but most are anywhere up to 7 lbs.
Unlike some other very tiny breeds such as the chihuahua for
instance these dogs have a wonderful disposition and are not
generally snappy or moody. Of course any dog can gain these
traits by poor training from their owners but it is not an
inbred trait to worry about.

What you will find is that you will have a friend for life and
what I have found is that the older these dogs get they still
seem to stay young with their enthusiasm for life. They adore
human company and if you can say that they may have a down side
then it would be that they want to be center of attention all of
the time but with good training and lots of love and cuddles you
will be able to keep that in check.

Take the time to look at lots of pomeranian pictures and read
lots of information about these wonderful little creatures and
then you will soon understand why they are such a popular little
addition to any family including yours perhaps.

Your Cat or Kitten Will Love You More, When You Follow this Guide to Feline Feeding

Filed under: Doggies + other Pets — admin @ 1:12 pm

You can take the easy option and throw some discount cat feed
into a bowl for your feline friend, but will she remain your
friend for long if you don’t give a bit more thought into what
you feed her? Here is some advice that will have her purring
with delight at feeding time, and keep her healthy at the same
time.

In order to keep your cat or kitten healthy, you need to choose
quality foods that will provide him with nutrients he needs.
But, what are they? You can’t just give your cat any type of
food that is available. There are several things you should do
to improve your cat’s nutrition.

Kitten Food

During the first few weeks, the food will come from mom cat.
But, when he begins to reach the age of four to six weeks, he
needs to supplement his foods with canned kitten food or you can
provide him with dry cat food that is softened with water. At
eight weeks, he should be weaned from the mother and eating
kitten food solely. The breeder at this point can allow him to
be adopted and should provide you with some of the food that he
is eating. If you plan to switch brands, you can do so but make
sure that you mix the food together until he is used to it.

Growing kittens will eat a good amount of food. They are growing
very fast and need it. They will eat more than once a day. They
are likely to eat up to four smaller meals until they are six
months old. You should give him plenty of clean water as well.
Remember, kittens have smaller stomachs and need smaller amounts
but use a lot of energy nonetheless.

As Your Kitten Gets Older

At six months, the cat will begin to taper off in growing. He
will likely be less active as well. This means you can cut back
to feeding him to two or three meals a day. You should not
change from kitten food to adult food since he is still growing.

At a year, you can provide him with adult food. Adult cats will
eat when they are hungry so you can simply leave a dish filled
with dry food for him. But, if he overeats and becomes
overweight, he will need to be limited to eating twice a day
instead. If you give him canned food, you can still offer dry
food as well. Canned food should not be left out all day.

What Kind of Cat Food?

To purchase cat food, you should look for the types that have
protein sources in the first few ingredients that are listed.
You should make sure that the food is well balanced too. If the
cat has problems that are health related look for foods designed
to help with these conditions.

Many cats will enjoy both wet and dry food. But, some are
finicky about it. If your cat does not seem to like dry cat
food, moisten it or provide him with regular check ups at the
vet to keep his teeth clean. Providing well balanced food for
your cat will allow him to live a healthy, long life.
