There are some noted advantages to using a gas grill over other traditional grills which make them the most popular choice for the backyard griller. These grills are lit via propane or similar type of natural gas. Most homes have one on their deck or patio to allow easy cooking and entertaining of guests. Having a barbecue is a great way to welcome friends or family members into your home.
Firing a gas grill is as easy as turning a knob and hitting a button. The starter button will light the flame and start warming the cooking surface. The ease of doing this is the biggest advantage to these grills. With a charcoal grill you have to pile the charcoal, apply lighter fluid, and manually light them. You also need to monitor them to make sure the flame remains at an optimal temperature. Most gas grills have a thermometer gauge and a method to turn the amount of gas up or down. This allows you to correctly cook any type of food.
A second advantage to a natural gas grill is the ability to cook different meals at different temperatures at the same time. Most of these grills have different burners on each side with seperate controls. You can quickly turn one side up or down to compensate for varying temperature requirements.
Another barbeque gas grill advantages is the ease of cleaning up after you are done cooking the meal. They will cool down in a relatively short period of time, allowing you to quickly remove the grill section for a thorough cleaning. Charcoal grills take alot longer to cool as you must wait for the burnt charcoal biscuits to completely cool before removing them, and doing this is a messy proposition. You will typically have to wait several hours before the coals are cool enough to be removed.
One thing to remember with a gas grill is that propane is a flammable product. You should use care when moving the small cylinder and avoid dropping it or damaging it severely. You should also check the gas lines for leaks periodically to avoid the risk of a fire or explosion during the cooking session. Rest assured these grills are safe to use but you must use your common sense at all times. Follow the instructions carefully and do not use the propane tank if you suspect there are any problems with it.
Barbecue grilling is a fun activity as you get to enjoy the outdoors while cooking food for you and your guests. Gas grills have some advantages over other types which explains why they are the most popular grill for homeowners. They are easy to use and maintain, plus you get a terrific flavor in your food.

Recent study of U.S. government provides the latest evidence of a systematic cover-up of the health toll from pollution after the 9/11 disaster, which doctors fear will cause more deaths than the attacks themselves.
Belfast Telegraph says, The Bush administration suppressed evidence of increasing danger and officially announced that the air around the felled buildings was “safe to breathe”.
But results of the government study, conducted by a consortium of researchers at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Columbia University, New York University, Johns Hopkins University, The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, show exposure-related increases in new-onset cough, wheeze, shortness of breath, and bronchial hyperreactivity more than 2 years after the disaster.
Ambient air samples showed that asbestos levels in the WTC area were initially elevated following the September 11 attacks, but fell to within federal standards after the first few days.
“More research is needed to determine whether long-term exposure to asbestos fibers might lead to an increased risk of lung mesothelioma, a rare cancer that has been linked to asbestos exposure,” said Landrigan. “Previous studies have shown the short chrysotile fibers found in the WTC dust to be the predominant fiber in lung mesothelioma tissue.”
It is important to note that symptoms of mesothelioma may not appear until 30-50 years after exposure to asbestos.
Often symptoms of pleural mesothelioma are:
- shortness of breath,
- pain in the chest
Peritoneal mesothelioma symptoms include:
- weight loss,
- abdominal pain,
- swelling,
- bowel obstruction,
- blood clotting,
- anemia,
- fever.
If the cancer has spread beyond the mesothelium to other parts of the body, symptoms may include pain, trouble swallowing, or swelling of the neck or face.
It is very important to see a doctor about any of these symptoms. Only a doctor can make a diagnosis.

(ARA) - Soy foods have grown in popularity as consumers learn more about associated health benefits — soy food sales are expected to reach $4 billion for 2003. Several studies have shown that soy products help lower cholesterol and reduce the severity of menopausal symptoms, as well as reducing the risk of certain types of cancer, such as breast and prostate. Soy products are also a great way for consumers to get high quality protein in their diets with less fat and cholesterol than animal protein.
For consumers who want to add the benefits of soy to their diet, the good news is that the wide variety of soy products available today makes it easy. Crum Creek Mills, a Springfield, Penn.-based soy foods company, specializes in making everyday food items healthier with the addition of soy. No more trying to figure out how to make tofu palatable to your family — they’ll be eating foods they already like, made healthier with the addition of soy.
“We focus on products everyone knows and loves,” says Rich Rothman, general manager. For example, the company’s soy protein pancake mix or soy protein muffin mix would be a great addition to any brunch menu. Choose from buttermilk or blueberry pancake mix and from three muffin varieties: Bold Banana Walnut, Bountiful Blueberry and Brilliant Bran.
Another easy way to add the benefits of soy to your meals is to opt for soy protein pasta as a base for your favorite sauce. Fast, filling, nutritious and delicious, these pastas provide between 70 and 90 percent more protein and up to 20 percent fewer carbohydrates than regular pastas. Every 2-ounce serving packs 13 grams of protein and only 36 grams of carbohydrates. This better balance of protein to carbohydrates provides the body with consistent energy over time. Crum Creek has a pasta for every need — Passionate Penne, Savory Spaghetti, Fabulous Fettuccine, Heavenly Angel Hair and an all-time favorite made healthier, Marvelous Mac and Cheese.
If you or someone you know is looking for a fun way to sample a variety of soy foods, the Soy to the World gift pack is just the thing. It includes three boxes of soy protein pasta in assorted shapes; one box of soy protein macaroni & cheese (the kids will love it); two packs of Soy Bites Breadstick Snacks in assorted flavors; one bag of soy protein muffin mix; one bag of soy protein pancake mix; one bag of soy nuts; and one bag of soy nut mix. All this soy goodness comes attractively packed and can be shipped directly to friends, family, business associates, neighbors — anyone who enjoys good eating and good health.

In our quest to get that “perfect” body, we actually tend to lose our focus on the real things that should matter to us, such as our health and well-being. Thus, we end up not only neglecting our insides but possibly our relationships with others as well. Cutting down on our daily calorie intake does not necessarily assure us of a slimmer waistline and smaller thighs. However, having our calorie-levels set way down low what dieticians actually prescribe is not only sheer shallowness but a cause a lot of ill effects on your health. From mood swings to fainting spells, our bodies tend to give out whatever “distress signals” it can think of just to tell you to stop that mindless way of dieting.
When it comes to dieting, do bear in mind that food is not the enemy - it never was. It’s actually the way we abuse our bodies that can turn everything into a downward spiral. Stop obsessing about what you’ve eaten in a day (or the lack of it) in order to keep yourself fit and healthy you’ll actually need food (with all its vitamin and mineral content) to help you achieve this. Remember, do everything in moderation (especially in dieting).
Unknown to the “anorexic community” who would rather die than actually eat, there are certain vitamins and minerals - that we can get from the right type of food which are actually essential how we’ll be able to convert these nutrients into energy rather than just store them into our thighs and bellies as fat. As much as we try to deny ourselves of the proper amount of food that our bodies need in order for it to run much more efficiently, we actually need a big lifestyle change and make sure to always keep in mind recommended daily levels of vitamins and minerals that our bodies need in order to be healthy and fit.
When it comes to dieting, we must always keep in mind the importance of the Vitamin B complex. This kind of vitamin actually plays an important role in how fast our body can digest the food that we put in and eventually turning it into physical energy. When food is properly digested, our bodies greatly benefit from this because aside from not storing excess fat, being healthy actually makes as more alert and less prone to illnesses. Vitamin B2, B3 and B6 however, are all associated with the proper functioning of the thyroid gland. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies can actually affect the way this gland works in a big, big way. A clear sign of a disruption in how the thyroid gland functions is when our metabolism goes haywire and prevents us from determining the amount and rate of the calories that we burn off.
Another important mineral that we can acquire from actual eating is Zinc, just one of the many minerals that can actually help people with dieting safely. This mineral can actually have an effect on the way our food taste as well as on how we’ll be able to control our appetites. Along with Vitamin A and Vitamin E, Zinc is a mineral that helps people in regulating their thyroid hormones.
It’s also important to note that when it comes to dieting and nutrition concerns, it is really not just the reflection of ourselves that we see on the mirror which should serve as our gauge on whether or not we’re healthy. Dieting can actually be very emotionally stressful and when we lack certain vitamins and minerals it can actually be a small step towards depression. For many people who have weight problems, food actually helps us feel better, even acts as our “security blankets” whenever we’re down on the dumps. Which is why skipping meals or just basically not eating at all is not the way to diet, it’ll not just give you an ulcer but mental illness (depression) as well.
It is also important to keep in mind the big impact that the Vitamin B complex has on our mental health. Deficiencies in the vitamins that make up the B complex can actually result in a series of complications which might lead to a mental illness such as confusion, anxiety, depression, dementia, paranoia and even psychosis. Furthermore, deficiencies in the Vitamin B complex can bring about insomnia which can make any one of those symptoms much worse.
Vitamin C is another vitamin that is important to one’s overall feeling of well-being. Arm yourself with the proper knowledge with regards to how we can greatly benefit from the various vitamins and minerals that we can find in our daily food intake. The production of serotonin and dopamine as well as the maintaining of chemical balance within the brain is a something that can be well regulated with the proper intake of the available nutrients.
Nutrition is especially important to the success of any weight loss diet. Dietary supplements, taken accordingly to the prescribed amount, can be an excellent way to maintain nutrient levels while reducing caloric intake.
